Altenew Academy - Class Five, For The Guys
I really struggle with concepts and layouts when it comes to making more masculine cards, mainly because I prefer working with pretty floral images. The "For The Guys" class from Altenew really helped me expand my thought processes by offering fun and innovative ways to create cards for the men in your life.
For my class submission I have selected this card using Pattern Play - Hexagon stamp set, following the ideas from Lesson 1.
I was drawn to the class that explored working with geometric patterns, this stamp set - Pattern Play Hexagon, fitted the scheme I had come up with. The lower portion of the card is dedicated to the pattern, a strip of blue separates the two halves of the card. This strip also works as a grounding device on which my die cut sentiment "hello" can sit along with the additional "can't wait to see you!".
The pattern has been stamped in Sapphire then over stamped with clear embossing ink before being heat embossed with clear embossing powder. This gives a little shine to the card and adds texture. To try something a little different, I have coloured the blocks of the pattern in using Chameleon Pens in a blue scheme.
The sentiment has been stamped in the same colour and fashion as the pattern, drawing the design together, and I have added a few blue sequins so there is a balance between to two halves of the card.
