Altenew Academy - Class One, All About Layering
Updated: Feb 10, 2019
The adventure begins! Having begun card making last year; and being lucky enough to demonstrate stamping for Altenew on Create & Craft, a television shopping channel here in the UK - I decided to expand my skill set and applied for the Altenew Educator Certification Program. A few weeks ago I was delight to have been accepted.
Level One features 10 classes, each class having a variety of lessons from which to learn. First up is "All About Layering". The layering concept is key to many of Altenew stamp designs and allows you to achieve a gorgeous 3D effect. All About Laying walks you through the layering process, offering tips on layout and design as well as how to position your stamps.
For my class submission I have chosen this card featuring Vintage Roses stamp set, following the guide from Lesson 8.
Drawing from the class as a whole; I wanted a simple look to the card itself with the stamped images being the main focus. The white space I have left gives the stamped images space to pop, while positioning the images at slightly different levels adds depth to the design. I have chosen the sentiment "with love" from the Leaf Medallion Stamp Set and white heat embossed this on to a classic black strip, providing a contrast to the background of the card.
I have layered the images towards the top of my panel, accentuating the top folding aspect of the card base. Between the base and panel, I have included a layer of vellum - this gives the panel a subtle frame.
I am pleased with how this card turned out and I am looking forward to learning more!
