Altenew Academy - Level 2, Class Eight, Impressive Heat Embossing
For my class submission I have chosen this card created using Peony Scrolls stamp set and the guide in Lesson 1 heat embossing for coloring.
I love the look heat embossing gives and really enjoyed learning new ways to include it in my cards through these lessons, in particular I really enjoyed adding splatters of water to my card panel then sprinkling over embossing powder which would stick to the water.
For my design I used gold embossing powder and embossing ink for the outlines of the flowers and leaves, these I painted using Distress Oxides. Heat Embossing is great for watercolouring techniques as it forms a raised barrier, keeping the watercolour in place.
The background was created using the splatter technique already mentioned. I chose a navy coloured card as this worked well against the gold powder.
I arrange the flowers in a cascade, raised up on foam pads to give height, with the leaves arranged around the flowers. A simple sentiment is added to the card panel in gold embossing powder to compliment the design.
