Altenew Academy - Level 2, Class Five, Polychromatic

Class 5 for the Altenew Academy "Polychromatic" focuses on colour and how to include it confidently within your card making designs.

For my class submission I have chosen this card created using Forever and Always stamp set, using the guide from Lesson 4 watercolouring with similar colours.

I think cards created with a tonal colour palette can be very effective. I started my design by creating my pink background, blending various Distress Oxides on smooth white card before adding water splashes to give a textured look.

Next up, I stamped my chosen image and heat embossed using gold embossing powder. I used the same Distress Oxide that feature in my background, to colour my image. Working from light to dark, I used a find round brush to add layers of colour. Fussy cutting around just half of the image, I left the remain half and mounted this on foam pads to give height to this element against my background.

To contrast, I added my sentiment in white heat embossing against black card. I finished with a few pink sequins to draw to layers together.
