Altenew Academy - Level 2, Class Seven, Color Your Day
For my class submission I have chosen this card featuring Sunlit Flowers stamp set and the guide from Lesson 6 bringing it all together.
The lessons within class 7 help you build and balance your card designs. Encoruaged to seek inspiration I settled on the photo oposite, an image I snapped of a pretty sunset viewed from my back garden.
Working on the principles laid out in the lessons, I wanted to focus on a of colour palette of 70 - 20 - 10. Where 70% of the card is dedicated to one colour, 20% to the next most significant colour and finally 10% on just a hint of colour.
Beginning with my 70% I selected the darkest colours from my photo, I created a blended background using Distress Oxides. My flowers take up the 20%, painted with Distress Oxides in pink hues. And finally the 10% for the leaves. The flowers I mounted on foam pads to give the card height, while the leaves frame the flowers.
I finished the card with a simple white heat embossed sentiment, stamped directly to the background.
