Altenew Academy - Level 2, Class Ten, Masking Unleashed
Updated: Apr 24, 2019
For my class submission I have chosen this card featuring Weekend Doodles stamp set and the guide covered in lesson 3 positive masking.
I often use masking to layer up my altenew floral stamps and build scenes. For my class submission I wanted to try a few different things. I always tend to use masking sheet, but wanted to try out freezer paper as used in lesson 5.
I decided to die cut my sentiment out of freezer paper and fix this to my card panel using the heat from an iron. Once fully stuck, I blended Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide ink over my card to create a great orange colour. I wanted to further make my sentiment pop so stamped around it using the leafy images from Weekend Doodles stamp set. I used lighter coloured inks over the centre of my card, while dark coloured inks towards the edges helped frame the sentiment.
I gently heated the freezer paper to remove it, revealing my masked layer underneath. To finish I simply mounted my card panel to a 6" x 4" card blank.
I wanted to keep this make simple, with the focus being on the bright white sentiment against the orange backdrop - I will definitely be using freezer paper again!
