Altenew Academy - Level 2, Class Three, With A Twist
For my class submission I have chosen this card using Vintage Roses and Sohcahtoa stamp sets, using the guide from Lesson 5 modern with vintage.
I loved the concept put forward in this lesson of mixing vintage inspired designs with something far more modern. To replicate this same feel in my card, I chose to stamp out flowers and leaves from the Vintage Roses stamp set using pastel inks from Rose Petal along with Mountain Mist. Instead of creating a clean and crisp print; I mottled the inks by letting them bead up on shiny stamp surfaces before printing them. I felt this added to the vintage look.
Switching it up, I decided to stamp a cascade of triangles from the Sohcahtoa stamp set on my card panel. I positioned the stamps so they could frame my roses, and used grey inks from Rock Collection to further add to the modern and sleek vibe.
I mounted the roses on foam pads of different heights to create layers of interest and glued the leaves just under the flowers. For my "thank you" sentiment, I chose to use white heat embossing on a strip of black card. This I tucked behind the floral images, creating a link between the background and foreground.
To finish, I mounted the card panel, raised on foam, on to a 5 1/2" by 7" top folding card blank.
