Altenew Academy - Level 2, Class Two, In The Mood For Color

Class 2 for the Altenew Academy Level 2, "In The Mood For Color" focuses on colours and how they can convey different feelings via their use in your cards.

For my class submission I have chosen this card using Delicate Primrose stamp set and the guide from Lesson 6 using the colour Orange as my focal to give a sense of happiness and health.

I really wanted to create impact with my card design and have the colour orange taking centre stage. I started by stamping out the floral images on to my card panel, using masks to overlap the flowers and leaves. I used the Goldfish Tails inks, to add tonal colours of orange and Green Valley inks in contrast to make the orange pop.

To the centre of the flowers I added a little orange glitter for a bit of sparkle. I trimmed the panel around the top of the flowers, leaving a small white boarder as a defining edge. I mounted this on foam pads to a mat layer of bright orange card for further contrast.

For my sentiment I white heat embossed the word "sending" directly to the orange mat layer, then used a die cut "love" in white card, again mounted on foam to give height and interest.

To finish, these layers were stuck directly to a 5 1/2" by 7" top folding card blank.
