ATC Monday #018 - Acrylic Crackle

Good Evening and welcome to another ATC Monday!

I arrange ATC swaps for Mixed Up Magazines Facebook page Mixed Up Mag Mixer. You can join in the fun here.

Tonight I am giving you a sneak peek of the piece I have created for the swap, along with the card I was lucky enough to receive!

For this project I wanted to try something a little different. I decided to start with an acrylic ATC from That's Crafty and hunted out a brilliant tutorial by Nikki Killinger available here.

For the central motif I chose one of my favourite stamps by Tracy Weinzapfel. I then followed Nikki's turtorial to build a really textured and crackled background, layering different DecoArt paint colours to achieve depth.

I decided to frame the ATC, with a MDF frame also from That's Crafty, that I painted in one of my favourite wash techniques "Timeless Gold". I finished the frame with Crackle Glaze and Carbon Black Antiquing Cream.

I've not worked on acrylic before but thanks to Nikki's great technique, it is something I will use more in the future. I love how all the colours pop on acrylic and the shine to the surface adds a really fun element!

As previously mentioned this ATC has been created for a swap, and here is the piece I recieved;

Created by Erica Evans, I love the labyrinth detail to the background of the card along with the depth she has created in the rusty patina over it's surface.

Remember you can join in the next round of swaps, head over to Mixed Up Mag Mixer and follow the posts for further details.

Happy Crafting x x x
