ATC Monday #023 - Walk Like An Egyptian
It's time for another ATC, and this week I am dipping back in to the Mixed Up Magazine Pick N Mix prompts. Week 4's prompt is "Be inspired by words from a song or poem". Looking around my craft room I happened upon a fab stencil from Powertex UK with an Egyptian theme - the song "Walk Like An Egyptian" pops in to my head and so this ATC is born!
I have tried to recreate the plaster and coloured wall art from Egyptian tombs by drawing modeling paste through my stencil. Once dry I have then painted this in a combination of DecoArt Media Fluid Arylics in Titan Buff, Raw Umber and Yellow Oxide washes. I have picked out some of the details in primary colours then dry brushed the piece to give an aged and faded look. To give the impression of bare plaster in areas I have added a wash of Quinacridone Gold.
The focus of the piece is in the scarab beatle, painted in vivid ultra marine blue, I have added a regal edge by dry brushing the beatle on metallic gold.
