ATC Monday #026 - Lost Postcard
Over on Mixed Up Magazine Mixer we are enjoying Round 2 of our ATC swap. You can check out our Facebook group here.
For my swap I created a grungy ATC using techniques taught and learnt at Novemembers Ministry of Mixology Art Retreat in Coventry.
Just like my Make & Take at Mixology; I painted the base layer in DecoArt Chalky Finish Relic, I added wax in areas to create a resist before painting the next layer in Chalky Finish Enchanted. Blasting the surface with my heat gun to melt the wax, I rubbed away the waxy areas to reveal the base layer underneath.
Next up a layer of Americana Decor Crackle Medium and once dry; a layer of Chalky Finish Timeless to activate the crackles. Once again, I rubbed away areas using a baby wipe to reveal the base layers. Over these layers I painted a wash of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics Quincridone Gold and built the intensity. The background was finished with a Stampendous aged postcard stamp, using a mix of both Staz-On Jet black and Versafine Vintage Sepia to knock the colour back.
For the heart motief I recreated the texture technique as taught by Suz Humphreys Surrey Crafts, adding DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics in Cadmium Red and Quinacridone Gold and Metallic Gold. I highlighted the raised textures to the heart in Metallic Gold and finally, edged the ATC in Gold to draw the design together.
I hope my swap partner enjoys this ATC as much as I enjoyed creating it!
