Valentines Day is around the corner, so what better way to celebrate that with a heart project! Here we have a fun little project created using DecoArt paint techniques and greyboard elements from Tando Creative.
Using one of the Tando Creative Cubby boxes I began by embossing the back panel with a metal checker plate design. All surfaces of the box were painted in Metallic Silver as a base. Washes of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics to the inside and outside of the box created metal effects.
The washes to the inside of the box build in intensity to give an interesting effect. The heart is a greyboard embellishment layered roughly with Dimensional Texture Paste. Painted in tonal colours, the heart has been dry brushed with gold to highlight the textures in the paste.
The outside of the box has been painted in a rust technique using washes of Paynes Grey, Yellow Oxide and Quinacridone Gold. Areas of neat paint have been used to give a true rust look.
To finish, holes were punched through the greayboard and laced with rusty wire, running from one side to the other.
