Gold & Blue ATC Storage Box
Welcome to the first in a series of ATC (Artist Trading Cards) Blogs. This on going journey will explore different techniques used to create little works of art. But first up we need somewhere to store the ATC's.
My inspiration for this project comes from the beautiful gold and blue tones seen in the gemstone Lapis Lazuli, I wanted to convay the treasure like aspect this combination of colours can envoke.

The ATC Storage Box kit from That's Crafty contains all elements needed to create a sturdy storage box.
1x MDF base
2x Long MDF Sides
2x MDF Ends with Handles
2x MDF Dividers
Using a flat wide brush, coat all sides of the ATC Storage Box in Ultramarine Blue.
Using a brayer add layers of Paynes Grey, Doxazine Purple, Primary Cyan and Metallic Purple to the inside elements of the storeage box.
Spread a small amount of paint on to a non stick craft mat. Roll the brayer over the paint to achieve a good coverage. Roll off the excess and lightly roller the brayer over MDF pieces.
Ensure each layer is dry before applying the next.
Coat the outsides of the box in a layer of Weathered Wood.
Once dry, using a wide flat brush, paint on to the sides Titan Buff and Medium Grey Value 6.
The paint will begin to crackle, only paint over once so as not to disturb the crackle process.
Rub away areas of paint using a baby wipe to create a more distressed look.
Next up, dab Stampendous Clear Embossing Ink on to sections of the box sides. Sprinkle a mix of Aged Gold and Aged Ivory embossing enamels over the inked areas and tap away the excess.
Melt with a heat gun to seal the embossing enamels in place.
Paint all the top edges of the box with Metallic Gold and finally construct the box, gluing all parts together using craft glue.
