Ministry of Mixology Coventry November 2017
First up; Friday night saw us enjoy a Meet and Greet at the hotel. We had such fun meeting the guests and spending time with the course tutors and those who help run the workshops.
The theme for Friday night (along with the rest of the weekend!) was hats! As you can see, myself and Nikki Killinger really went for it with the theme!
Our first workshop of the weekend was with Antonis Tzanidakis from Handmade Fantasy. His project was an ambitious grungy book with a recess and rusty embellishments. I really enjoyed the steps and being challenged to try out different techniques. His teaching style was inclusive and informative - whilst being a lot of fun. While I didn't quite finish mine I learnt a huge amount and cannot wait to add the finishing touches.
Saturday evening I was honoured to be included within the Make & Takes Team. My mini workshop featured a Camo Tag with Bound Heart. Thank you so much to the ladies who attened, as promised I will be including a "How To" blog post later in the week.
On Sunday we enjoyed a workshop with the wonderful Andy Skinner. Andy's project was a cog-tastic box frame with shutters to reveal a skull decorated with an faux ivory paint technique. The pace of the workshop was perfect for a Sunday, and the grunge techniques really appealled. I loved layering up all the different embellishments and applying tonal washes.
This is the fourth Mixology I have attened and, as always, I have thoroughly enjoyed every second. A huge thank you to the team of incredible people who make these events so good and to the fellow attendees who throw themselves in to the spirit of the event. I am already looking forward to the next retreat. Until next time!
